Håpefulle HP prelanserer i Digi

HEWLETT-PACKARD ANNOUNCES LARGE FORMAT DESIGNJET PRINTERS WITH REVOLUTIONARY INK DELIVERY SYSTEM

plus industry leading photo-quality output and low cost of operation

Boeblingen, Germany, March 10 1997. Hewlett-Packard Company, world-wide leader in printer sales, today announced the HP DesignJet 2500CP and 2000CP printers for large format colour printing. The printers are targeted at print service providers who want to broaden their service offering and ultimately increase their profits, through selling large format prints.

The new DesignJet 2500CP and 2000CP print photo-quality images with predictable colours and subtle tones. The printers are simple to set-up and operate, provide a versatile range of output to the industry's highest standards and are economical to run, making them the ideal choice for mass market print-on-demand service providers.

The DesignJet 2500CP and 2000CP are the first to ship with the revolutionary HP Large-Capacity Ink System, which has been engineered to provide the ink volume of high capacity systems combined with the reliability of an inkjet cartridge.

For each colour, the system comprises a printhead, an ink reservoir and a printhead cleaner. The printhead senses when its ink is running low, and automatically replenishes itself from the 410cc ink reservoir when required - enabling the printer to work longer before needing attention. The printers feature fault tolerant print modes which enable the printer to detect whether any nozzles have failed. If so, it will overcome this by activating other nozzles to work in their place, so ensuring perfect printing every time.

Changing ink is straightforward and quick and avoids the mess and hassle of other large-capacity systems. The ink system also allows the user to switch between different types of inks in minutes - much faster than traditional large-capacity systems. A separate UV resistant ink system allows production of window signage and laminated weatherproof signs, available in Autumn 1997.

A variety of different media are available, including HP Coated Paper, HP High Gloss Film, backlit and vinyl, enabling print service providers to meet any customer need.

It is predicted that demand for large format output will grow rapidly as end-users become aware of the advantages which occasional large format provides. European research company IT Strategies suggest that the public world-wide will spend around $18Bn on purchasing printed and finished large format digital colour output by 2000; and the 180,000 print service providers across Europe are in an ideal position to meet this need.

The HP DesignJet 2000CP is designed to be integrated with a RIP (raster image processor), and is supported by all of the major RIP vendors. The HP Peripherals Developer Association for software partners ensures a high standard of third party solutions. The HP DesignJet 2500CP provides the 'plug-and-play' solution. It ships with Adobe Level 2 PostScript, drivers for MAC, Windows 3.1, Windows 95, and Windows NT, and an HP JetDirect card. With this configuration, it connects to virtually any DTP application running on a MAC or PC. The integrated 2GB hard disk allows the processing of large files, as well as providing queuing, nesting and reprint capabilities.

The HP DesignJet 2500CP and 2000CP printers will be available on May 1 1997 from HP authorised dealers world-wide; and cost [local price] and [local price] respectively. The HP Ink Delivery System UV will be available in Autumn 1997. The printers ship with a one year, limited on-site warranty.
